Author Event with Becky Aikman, Author of Spitfires: The American Women Who Flew in the Face of Danger During World War II In-Person
Meet Becky Aikman in conversation with Carol Hoenig.
Spitfires tells the gripping true story of 25 American women pilots who flew dangerous missions in WWII Britain, despite being barred from combat roles at home. Coming from all walks of life—crop dusters, debutantes, and stunt flyers—they defied norms to deliver military aircraft for the British. Author Becky Aikman brings nine of these trailblazing aviators to life through diaries, letters, and interviews, offering a vivid, cinematic portrait of courage and ambition. Aikman, a former journalist and author of Saturday Night Widows and Off the Cliff, lives in New York.
